It’s about talent, stupid!

OK– it’s a hard headline. But let’s face it, “human resources” sounds like a tree conservation program run by the U.S. government. I really liked a post by Seth Godin. He says we should say TALENT department.

Talent. Umm. Skill? Ummm. Ability? Ummm Something you hone and nurture?

I’d say so. Squirrley term, too. Human resources sounds like an OPEC notion related to deep drilling and oil barrels.

But if we focus on talent, we’ve got the match to strike a flame in every heart. There’s not a human alive (or dead for that matter) who doesn’t yearn (and didn’t want) to find their special talent, their gift to play in this life’s passage.

So,you go, Seth! Let’s be builders of talent, makers of genius. Resources are horded, preserved for future use. But talent! Ahhh… it’s used now to burn brightly. And its wide use impacts generations!
