My normal morning regimen is to get up early, drink coffee and meditate for 20 minutes. I then go for a run that takes me down to the beach and across a boardwalk. Normal.

Except this past week! Huge waves were crashing against the seawall. Not just spray but real-get-wet-waves came over my head. The receding waves grumbled with hundreds of rocks cast up from the ocean.

What the heck?! I’ve never seen this.

My mariner neighbors told me it was the result of king tides, a term generally used to describe the highest tides of the year. King tides occur when the orbits and alignment of the earth, moon, and sun combine to produce the greatest tidal effects of the year.

Ahhhh… Alignment!  Now there’s a heavy thought to ponder.

I got to thinking. When parts of my life and business are aligned, my growth is greater. Alignment means that what I do is lined up with my values, my purpose, and my heart. I’d like to think that happens all the time. Sadly it does not.

Sometimes, the lure of a “job” overshadows the fact that I might not be the best person for the task. Sometimes, a wobbly bank account might have me saying “Yes” when I need to say “No”.  In times past, I think I did that way too much.

Tell me I am not the only one!

My intention for this year is to trust that the alignment of who I am and why I am here will bring king tides to my door.
