This July - Hell Hath No Fury
Update from Eileen!
…like a woman scorned. Although playwright William Congreve was writing about a human, I’m writing about another woman this July: Mother Earth. Along the Western US, drought rages and devastating fires threaten. In Central California, scientists studying some 1,200 years of tree rings predict that this year will be hottest. NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) predict another above-normal season for Atlantic hurricanes. The Arctic is warming faster than any other region on Earth due to greenhouse gas emissions.
Get the picture? Mother Earth can’t remain resilient unless we, her children, become serious about climate change and DO our part. Forget the dithering in political reluctance. This July, each one of us can do our part to reduce our carbon footprint. If shopping for a car, buy an electric or hybrid car. Put solar panels on your roof if that’s possible. Switch to more efficient light bulbs. Drive fewer miles by consolidating trips. Eat less red meat (we actually found Beyond Burger® to be tasty). Pay attention to which companies are taking active measures to create clean energy and let them know you are watching. Plant succulents. Lastly, water is a finite resource. From short showers low flush toilets, we can all do something.
Your Mother thanks you.
Hummingbirds Beat Top Gun Fliers
Just planted more nectar plants in my garden. Can’t seem to keep the hummingbird feeder filled. It reminded me of an article I wrote years ago about these amazing tiny creatures, Seems the right time to bring it forward and read again.
Something to Laugh About
If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would have put them on my knees.
When you're finally holding all the cards, why does everyone else decide to play chess?
If you're living on the edge, make sure you're wearing your seat belt.
A closed mouth gathers no feet.
Health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.
It's not hard to meet expenses. They're everywhere.
Must Get Book!
RECOMMENDED AGAIN! From Sheryl Sandberg to Adam Grant, the votes are in: THIS is a must read book. From emailing, zooming to IM-ing, it’s never been more critical to consider how we are perceived in the digital world. Be warned, you will need a highlighter! It is FILLED with advice and insights in the power of digital body language and messaging to transform communication. Erica Dhawan has done a masterful job with this book.

Here Is Something To Nudge Our Species
PHOTO OF THE YEAR: This was considered the best photo of the century. A lioness and her cub were crossing the savannah, but the heat was excessive and the cub was having difficulty walking. An elephant realized that the cub would die and carried him to a pool of water, walking beside his mother. And we call them wild animals! It's a great lesson for mankind who are fighting and dying for no reason.
